I cant believe anyone would give that theory any credit. The govt isnt going to go and test that stuff on a major US city.

But to each their own i suppose.
Hey, the government is all about theory.

“I got elected so I must be smart and I’m in control, and I’m going to appoint my sister-in-law‘s niece who studied psychology (she got a C, four Bs, , and an A, a 2,9 GPA in only 7 years!) as the weather czar for our town.”

“I got appointed by the mayor who is brilliant and was elected by all the people, and now that I’m the czar, I’m going to talk to my friend at the community college who runs the stem program and we’re going to find out what fire is, and explore what the best way to fight fires is. We’ve been given $3 million, and expect to produce a report within two years. The report will explain what fire is, and a game plan to establish a committee to see if we can make equipment that will actually fight the fire.” a hot mic also caught her thanking her uncle the mayor because she wasn’t able to find a job anywhere else.

I could go on, but God forbid they should just use the tried and true methods that have worked before. And if they’re really smart, let them observe those methods and study those methods and see if they can improve them a little bit.

But maybe I’m the one who’s crazy, cause I don’t see anybody doing that.

i’m an engineer, and I know engineers from running my company. The problem with engineers when they’re faced with a problem, is they go back to what they’ve learned and they try to solve the problem. One of the reasons our company was so successful was because I constantly beat in their heads that when they’re faced with a problem, 1 million people have had that problem before. Don’t figure out anything, get on the phone and find out who’s had that problem before and how they fixed it. Then, you’re an engineer, implement that…

An update from just a few minutes ago. Preliminary information indicates that if we eliminate all gas stoves…..

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Let's just build a big insulated duct to bring that California heat over here where it's cold. With a damper, of course, so we can turn it off when necessary.

Oh, you'll be surprised what some people believe. Like I said in another post, the theory gets blown out of the water on the VW van since only the sides are blue and the roof is white. For the theory to work, the roof would have to have been blue as well.

Gentlemen, please. If there is concern regarding the blue sides and white roof, I am confident we can get the governing officials to add a study of multi color Volkswagens to the "what is fire and how do I fight it" study. But please understand it will add $2 million to the $3 million consultants' costs and delay the report by a similar percentage. Having said that, I am confident we can be ready for test studies and a dumpster size pilot test on how to fight the fires within 60 months.

But if they didn't reinvent the wheel, how would they justify all the grant money they are wasting?

I suspect some of it is thinking they are smarter and know better and part of it is laziness. I see it all the time in the military. We've been doing the same crap over and over again for decades and for some reason, it gets done different every time. And those of us who have been around long enough to know what works and what doesn't get ignored. I think part of it is a organizational culture thing. When our unit was in the Strategic Air Command, everyone knew the what, when, and how of what they were doing. It was set in stone and it worked. After the Air Force got reorganized and we got pushed over to the Air Mobility Command, reinventing the wheel started happening and happening often. Then you throw in a big gap in the age, experience, and thought process of the average service member from when the Vietnam vets and Desert Storm vets retired or left, it only got worse. There are only a handful of use who span that gap and though we do have some input, we aren't the officers making the decisions. So, they end up having to learn for themselves and we aren't the in the position to tell them "we told you so". All we can do is sit back and watch and try to adjust as best we can to the mess they created.

I remembered another member from that area... @Eddo Rogue

He hasn't been on since before Christmas.
Hey yea I been laying low. Mostly technology wise, not voluntarily.

Anyways the Pasadena fire smoked out a but here, but I didn't evacuate. I'd rather risk going down with the ship than seek a public shelter..or stay with "freinds" or even family. People in L.A. are crazy (not in a good way), and I can't wait to get out, but that's another story.

If anything the wind caused the most damage.

Nothing compared to the la tuna cyn fire a few years back. That literally burned my yard, only the wind direction and hill slope saved my house. The mudslide after was fun. I'm pretty much doin earthquake prep now. Oh and de rusting the possible riot looter home defense kit.

I'm in between phones and laptops at the moment, along with many projects, since Hollywood has no work for me, but still wants my union dues.

Anyways miss you guys and will be back soon as I get my sinking ship patched up.

I would like to add if this gets our local politicians out of office, it was worth it. Newsome and Bass are terrible.
