Ah, yes, I've heard that said before too...unless it's winter...in which case it becomes a FAI...or a VCAI...or maybe a VFCAI...depending on where you are...When Ford built your truck, they installed a cold air intake at the factory. An aftermarket cone filter placed in the engine bay at the end of a rubber tube is what I like to call a 'hot air intake'
Accurate as always, Mark.Ah, yes, I've heard that said before too...unless it's winter...in which case it becomes a FAI...or a VCAI...or maybe a VFCAI...depending on where you are...
Can we get a sticky on the top of the intake forum that explains how the stock air intake works???Was wondering if anyone has experience with putting a cold air intake on a 3.0L, automatic, 2WD Ranger...? Any difference...? Power...? Gas mileage...?
Thanx.....Charlie.
What is this "A/C" you speak of? My truck has no such thing!"CAI will get you 3.5 moar miles per gallon!".........................
Do the math: A/C causes a 2mpg loss///Every 10 *F that you lower the intake temp, you gain 1 mpg.....
if you cut a hole in the a/c box under the dash and run the duct from the air filter thru the firewall.....then..........
Hence....................40*F a/c air combined with 100*F ambient air equals 65*F intake air which equals a 35*F temp reduction which equals.........(3.5 minus 2.0 equals 1.5)
1.5 MOAR MPG!
