No need to junk the tank, just line it with that shake in stuff (rotate every 15 minutes or whatever)...... what we did with our tractors.

who said we were going to junk the tank? I was just expressing my emotions for rust. I meant the tank is done being worked on...

looks like it'd be a fun 35-45 mph bike. I assume it's been bored out before by reading the piston...

oh you've never ridden before? I love oldies... and that one definitely is unique enough that I'd keep around.

Your piston has 0.5 etched into it. Most companies go with .010" or .020" or .030" to signify that they are for those that have been bored out by that much. Some companies label theirs differently... and yours is measured by metric in this case. Yours is .5 oversized. Next size up is 1.0.

Pull the carb and clean it. Pay attention to the jets. Use some small wire to push thru the jets to unplug them from the bad gas/varnish. With todays gasoline, it only takes about 15 minutes for it to go bad. One more thing, get some Seafoam and use it religiously!
i know you already got a new carb but....

NEVER run anything through a motorcycle carb jet! ever! they are brass and vvery very precise! soak em/buy new ones.

that frame style is to make it lighter.

adding a bigger gear on the back sproket might make it even slower... those motors only had so much power.

btw, those are 7/8" bicycle handle bars.... you can buy a different set for around $15 at a bike shop. i think it looked better with them up! but its yours!

scratch the bigger gear then, I don't what it to go any slower than it does now

I love the styling of cafe bikes so thats what it will look like...think of it as a decafe coffee...all the taste of full strength coffee, none of the kick, that's why I call it a "de"Cafe bike
