I have a 1976ish Suzuki A100 GO-FER

Here's some info on it...its a 100cc 2 stroke engine w/oil injection(doesn't work). The GO-FER package was more an endro/offroad bike than the base A100 with knoby tires. The bike has a little more than 10,000 miles on it right now.

Here's the story...my dad got this 5 years ago from my uncle for free, it ran but it ran ugly. We paid a mechanically inclined friend to tune her up for some $100 and beer about 4 years ago and it's sat ever since and now it doesn't run. Now that I'm going to get rid of the truck, I need something to work on...the GO-FER is perfect, my plan is to get her running smooth and make it look new again. After the restore, I plan to ride to cruise it in town and take it to college, because its not going any where near 55mph especially with my fat butt on it.

Here's the bike...

This is why I call it "Caddyshack"...GO-FER!!!!

The problem I have found out is that the gas isnt getting into the combustion chamber, becasue it runs as long as you spray starter fluid thru the carb, so I've ordered an new carb off ebay, gonna buy a new gas tank petcock and gonna derust the inside of the gas tank. see if that fixes the running problem

Pull the carb and clean it. Pay attention to the jets. Use some small wire to push thru the jets to unplug them from the bad gas/varnish. With todays gasoline, it only takes about 15 minutes for it to go bad. One more thing, get some Seafoam and use it religiously!

The carb is beyond a good cleaning/rebuild, so I ordered a new one, I got it for a deal. Should be here in a month or so.

I also smell coffee brewing:stirthepot:...cafe racer anyone?

Started derustifying the gas tank today, will take pics of the ghetto rigging, maybe even video. In case I forget or am lazy, we basically bungee corded the tank to a electric cement mixer and filed it with bb's and let her go round and round...and round

Haha, I am interested to see how that works out, definitely creative..

Edit:
I'd pay $100 for that in a heart beat.

To put it lightly, I got $hi+ done today...

Finally got to the final step in derustifying the tank, adding the coca cola and letting it soak for a day or 2

The tank is bigger than it looks, it took 2 2liter bottles and 1 can shy of a 12 pack

Also started to put the carb on, the new throttle

Lastly, took the head off to look whats inside, looks dirty but not scarred
BDC

TDC

The head

Here's the bike as it sits now

And did I mention, IT HAS PINK HANDLE BARS

I dumped out the coke today...and lets just say one should never drink coca cola because its like pure acid, it got rid of almost all of the rust, enough to say that what rust is left...FUKK IT, THE TANK IS DONE!!!!

Ordering a new fuel petcok, hooking everything up, crossing my fingers and hoping to god it runs.

If it does run, great, add some fluids, seafoam it and on to the looks part of the project. Which I have decided on, painting the bike black, adding flush turn signals(if any at all), chrome exhaust, street tires, and reversing the PINK handlebars for the cafe bike style.

If it doesn't run, I'll tear tear the engine apart and rebuild.
