Just bought a 93 F150 4wd for 500 bucks. The body is shot and I need to clean the frame up. It has a strong 302 and seems worth the effort.

I have a 92 F150 that the motor is shot, and the front end needs some work.

So I'm going to do a cab swap.:yahoo:

Pics will follow. Tips will be welcome. I've done plenty of motor swaps, Just havent pulled a cab with the intentions of puttin it on something else. Both are ext cabs, so it should be plug in play..............in theory:icon_thumby:

sounds like a plan!

id go ahead and replace the cab mount bushings while your in there. oh and heat is your best friend when pulling those cab bolts. lots and lots of it.

dont forget, when you insure it, your insuring the 92, not the 93. they go off cab VIN

Esp with the 92 being a 2wd on the insurance.

Might go ahead and do a 1" BL too.

I had the choice of two trucks to buy. The other was a 78 4wd 400M on propane for 600. The thought crossed my mind. I just dont like the 400

Not real familiar with the 400M. Esp with it being on propane. I'd just prefer to stick with a 302.

I might still buy it and use the axles for my other B2.

Its a pretty clean truck. Dont really wanna disect it, but I might.....

oh. that 400m is probably going to be super clean inside. there pretty good motors, just get a gas 2bbl carb, and gastank, and fuel pump and rip all that propane crap out, you might need to adjust the timing alot... im not too sure on that one.

Got both cabs off this weekend. My frame is in much better condition. So going to swap axle and motor and tranny.

The frames look identical. Going to go for it. Pics tomorrow.

Waiting on new cab bushings. Wont be in til Tues.

Rear axles are both 3.55. But the donor is limited slip

Everything swapped over without too much of a problem. Ford uses almost all the same parts for 2wd as 4wd. The brakes are almost all the same except the rotors. The shocks were the same. Just amazing. Dropping the cab back on this afternoon.

Awesome part is......... Ill will have no money in this. I sold my 2wd tranny to pay for the donor truck and Ill still scrap the rest.

Truck is back together. Had to replace the fuel filter. The old one only had 150,000 miles on it.

I've got a couple of issues. My power windows arent working, but locks are.
No radio.... no biggie. Just not getting power.

It also seems like my brakes are dragging since I redid the brakes and bled the system out..

It doesnt wanna go forward, but reverse its fine.

I got the radio and windshield wipers to work when I turned the key to ACC.

Is there a problem in the column or just the key switch?:icon_confused:
