Has anyone in California swapped a V8 into a Ranger and gotten it to pass a smog referee inspection???
I picked up an 89 Mustang GT as a donor car for my 84 Ranger 4x4 which currently has a carbed 302 with a C5/C4 that has a bent valve in #1 Cyl, but I want to drive it to the trail instead of trailering it. I figure I should be able to swap over pretty much all of the mustang wiring along with all of the emissions equiptment. and replace the gas tank with one with an in tank pump from a truck with EFI and get it to pass, but the law does state that you can not even replace the engine with a heavy duty version of the same size. Unless I misunderstand the laws posted here. http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/StdPage.asp?Body=/Geninfo/Publications/Engine_Change_Guidelines-Jan_1994.htm
