Was reading through the tech library, and came across the recommendations for T Case fluid.

Does it really make a difference which fluid is used? Especially in the early 1350 cases like in my B2?

I was thinking of using Valvoline's T-Case fluid in mine as it is readily available and the T Case doesn't hold much to begin with, even if it is a little pricey.

It uses regular ATF. I believe Mercon V would be what you'd want, or the Valvoline Multi-Vehicle ATF would be fine.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!
At work we use TranSynd... mostly because we use TranSynd in pretty much everything and buy it 400 gallons at a time.

I have Mercon V on had as I'm using it in my A4LD. I might just use it.

I have the Valvoline MaxLife transmission fluid in my A4LD seems to be doing fine...the transfer case I think originally called for Mercon IV or V. Can't exactly find the fluid that is in the owner's manual which lists a part number: XT-2-QDX. It just says Mercon in the manual, and searching that part number comes up with all sorts of different fluids...this is what happens when we drive 30 year old vehicles LOL.

I would NOT use Mercon V... it even says not to on the bottle.

I ended up going with this.

I haven't changed it yet, but have some on the way.

Figured it should be a suitable fluid.

Its been working in the T-Case and transmission in my Bronco 2 for quite a while, several months actually. I just used it in the transmission again, worked fine after the rebuild, so it must be just fine for both since the shop use it after the transmission rebuild and did the transfer case drain/fill too. That all was almost 5 years ago on the transmission/transfer case, then like I said a couple months ago I did a drain and fill on the transmission again and changed the filter and used the same Valvoline fluid...seems to work fine.
