Well, then, congradulations!!!! i wish mine did. my build sheet was completely destroyed due to water damage and the years under the rug. I had to contact ford to find out what i had. After about 5 weeks worth of waiting, i was disappointed to find out that i have a stx with a gt bodykit slapped on it. That why i said don't tear it up if it is a gt, because id love to have a real one.

I know this is an old thread, but its possible that running the VIN wont show the truck as a GT. Rangers that got the GT package left Ford as Rangers with the STX package.

Go to carfax and run the VIN and see what it lists in the description of the vehicle.

There are telltale signs that would show you if someone added the body kit or if it is factory. One is the use of wire to support a rear section of the body kit. Another might be the use of soft metal rivets with plastic like bushings to hold the PVC strips to the doors and bedsides. Its highly unlikely that anyone would worry with that stuff when adding a body kit.

Kinda sounds like the new Mustangs. They do down one assembly line and become a normal Mustang. If you want the fancy appearance package it goes down a second line and gets the scoops, louvers and a different spoiler installed. No way to tell if it happened at the factory or someones driveway (if they were good) without the build sheet.

Thanks
I'll take a peak after the fuel, brake, suspension, and drive systems have received the proper attention.

take the screws out of the kick plate, makes it easier to pull the carpet back. Also pull it back VERY SLOW!

Email ford with your vin and ask if its possible for them to send you a build sheet. I got one for my GT last year and I Paid nothing for it, they just mailed it to me.

Matt
