Very cool. I did a CJ5 project with my 16 yr. old son. The B2 won't be the most expensive car in the HS parking lot but will be the coolest because he worked on it himself.

True that! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… no it won’t be super expensive to build, but she will be reliable and built right.

If you are going to use either the 2.9l OHV or the 4.0l OHV, ADDRESS ALL COOLING SYSTEMS issues first and foremost.
• If you desire the highest fuel economy for this vehicle, don't wright off your 2.9l. It will cost quite a bit less to get your 2.9l into 30+/-mpg than it will for a 4.0l.
• if you KNOW that this vehicle will live life working and towing then the 4.0l is the prudent choice, due to clear torque advantage.

Update on the little bronco 2 project… I am currently in the process of pulling the 2000 explorer apart for the 4.0 engine and the 8.8 axle!

I’m excited to work on this thing with my son for sure. I’ve always wanted a little bronco and I’ve built countless explorers and rangers so this one is gonna be a kick!

I’m actually entertaining buying this as another donor truck. Has the lift, wheels and tires, and bumper with winch that I would be shopping for later…. What would be a fair price on something like this? It’s a 4.0 with the 5 speed and 150k miles but the head gaskets are trashed and the body is an eye sore.

The ones in our area ive seen with head gasket issues have been anywhere from $500 bucks to $1500 buckets. I would love to have that ARB bumper.....

It is worth the cost of the parts that you want from it used. If it actually has a lift kit on it, that is the big ticket item, depending on brand and condition. That rubber has a bunch of life left in it but check the manufactured date.

Ya, I got my hopes up way too high. I was headed to his house yesterday morning (3.5 hour one way) and he told me he just sold it after I was already almost 2 hours into the trip. Gotta love Craigslist

Small update…. Had to tie up a few odds and ends things on my other project so the bronco project has been delayed a day or 2. Here are pics of my engine and rear axle donor!

Ok I got my other project to a point that I can pull it out of the garage and not worry too much about it for the time being. I pulled the explorer donor in the shop and started the dismantling process. Coolant is nice and green, oil is the color of honey, and it runs great! Been sitting a while but still runs quite well. Cutting the radiator support off tomorrow and pulling this sucker!
