Bronco 2.9 Starter problems

Mine is doing the same thingstarted grinding bad on starts now it just grinds and wont trun the motor over

I had the same problem and I had to loosen the engine- trans. bolts enough to get the spacer plate loose and then align and tighten the starter bolts while the plate is loose. Then tighten the engine-trans. bolts. Also I had to take one top bolt out to get the plate to slide in easy.
