I bought a short block of a guy on C/L today. Part number M6009-B50

http://www.dugan-racing.com/html/catalog_html/fr_short_block.html

Only 350.00 :icon_thumby: It cost 80.00 in fuel to go get though.:annoyed:

Anyway i noticed that the ad said compression will be 9:1 with 65cc heads.

Anyone tell me what it would be with 59cc heads? Thanks

I'll post some pics later.

Can't say for sure without knowing what pistons are in it.

Can you tell me how you calculate that?
They are std bore flat tops w/ valve relief.

What is a good head gasket to use? Just going to use iron heads for now. Thanks, Brian

Good deal? Well it orgianlly sold for almost $1300 and you got it for $350 - let me do the math. Yep, looks like a great deal! Head gaskets, I've always gone with the FelPro 1011-1's. I'm thinking I might have the same one all covered up in a corner of the garage.

It's kinda hard to tell, but from the angle of the pics, those sure look like 289 Hi-po/Mexican main caps. What are the block's casting numbers ? As for figuring the comp ratio with 58 cc heads, that's just a matter of working the math based on the 64 cc figure then sub'ing 58 ccs in it's place.

Using 58 cc heads will bump the comp ratio up to 9.7

They're right there where the starter bolts up at the rear.

Thats what i thought. There are no numbers there that i am familiar with.

The numbers on the caps themselves is F0AE aa. The number on the crank is E7TE.

Look on the opposite side of the block at the rear corner. Never seen one with E7TE on the crank. I've seen roller blocks with that casting, also seen E6SE, F1SE too at the rear corner.

It's for the most part an explorer short block. They got cheep and used a link bar timing chain though instead of a roller. It'll be a good little runner and the price you paid is smokin! Good score:icon_thumby:
