Hello all,

I haven't posted in a while. I will be going to pick up my '85 BII project that was my deceased granddad's in the next few weeks and bringing it home. Mods feel free to move this post if you think it would be better in another section, I was looking for the most traffic.

I've got some small plans for this rigs, mostly a small lift and maybe a little bit bigger tires, but I'm going to leave it mostly stock as my granddad bought it new in '85 for my aunt and it has never left the family since. The interior isn't horrible, but I know I can work my way through all of it. (I'm always looking for parts on marketplace, craigslist etc) I would like to drive this and keep it for quite a while.

My biggest hurdle will be paint and body work. I have done some repairs in the past that were small. I'm fairly familiar with fiberglass, bondo, and the like, but I have never tackled a whole paint job before.

I've read all the articles in the tech section, and been on BIIcorral website, but I'm having trouble deciding where to start....

I assume I need to sand or blast all the surface rust and apply a epoxy primer? The use a primer on the part's I've repaired? I now there will be some dent repair, but the body is mostly straight, some of it might even be able to have PDR done before a paint job.

I would like to keep the original two tone paint. I'm just looking for direction since I've never tackled anything like this before..... Take a look at the pictures. Thanks in advance to all! I've got a lot of memories in this ole BII, I would love to make many more.

From here on down it's uphill all the way!
There are some excellent how to videos put out by Eastwood Products on You Tube.
You first have to determine your goal. Do you want show car quality or just want driver quality? There is a huge difference in cost between the two.
If you don't have an air compressor then start looking for one on Craigslist - but first find out what capacity you need.
I have a friend who rebuilds Model A Fords. He buys most of his supplies and guns from an Ebay vendor by the name of TCP Global. He likes the price and quality for what they charge.
I used both their products and Eastwood's for painting an old Corvette and the job turned out good for a rookie.

Here is a good article on the Forum. You can do some testing on a junkyard body panel to give you some confidence before actually doing your truck.

Thank you for the replies. I have a single stage 20 gallon compressor now. If i decide to stick with that, that will most likely limit the gun i can use. Im not looking for show quality. Just driver quality as this b2 will spend most of its life outside.
