That's exactly how I ran the exhaust on my stepside truck. I used the factory flange and welded some pieces of exhaust tubing up to build an adapter for 2.25" tube. Works super good and that spot in the frame is just perfect for hanging the last bit of pipe on. Mine is not nearly as pretty or legal as yours is so I won't post any pics. 🤡
Yeah I wanted the stainless for corrosion resistance, but it being pretty is a bonus! Gotta stay federally compliant just in case someone decides to check. :icon_thumby:

Last year I replaced the door hinge pins with Autozone ones and they already failed. Replacing them again but what I need to do is find some good factory ones.

Are they really ever done?

Chalk yet another one up to today's garbage replacement parts.
Yeah no kidding. No project is ever really done. There's always something to fix or adjust

Hey BBII, I just read through your entire thread, and just wanted to applaud. This is one of the best builds I’ve ever read. Bravo sir.

I’m interested in the hybrid M5OD gear set and the electric cooling fan conversion for my own build. Could you share your thoughts and experience with them? Long term durability, Changes in fuel economy, etc?

Thanks again for taking the time to create this thread. You are inspiring me to get out and finish my Sploder.

Thanks!

The hybrid gear set gives lower first, second and third gears, which is nice for off roading and such, fourth and overdrive are the same so I don't think it has had much effect on fuel economy. It does make it feel quicker off the line which is nice. The electric fan has been a great improvement; I have it hooked up to a thermal switch so it only turns on when it's needed, mostly in the summer. It doesn't turn on for a while in the winter which should help with efficiency some, but it's not likely not measurable - less than 1mpg I imagine. Overall, both mods have been working great for years and I am happy with them.

Get out there and finish it! And post pics, we all love seeing these trucks get some love.

Had some fun at the sand dunes. The 4.0 doesn't quite have the horsepower to keep the tires spinning; I kept getting bogged down and stuck. I have an excuse to put in a 5.0 now, or maybe a turbo 4

Your tires look too inflated to do well in sand... I usually have the best luck at like 8psi rear and 10 front... but I don't remember what gears you have either for the tire size... I normally cruise my '90 at 3k plus in the sand, even with the turbo and low gears it is a power suck...

Yeah I aired them down to about 20, but I didn't bring a compressor with me so I was a bit worried about the trip back at highway speed. I have 4.56 and I just couldn't keep the rpms high enough. Still did a few small dunes, was fun

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I've seen Ford ads that didn't look that good.
