Only just barely!

Well that didn't take too long...

Did you make the covers or find lights that fit the factory ones?
The covers are the ones that came with the Westin 090405 lights; I painted them black and found some Ford vinyl stickers that were the right size. The stickers I used have two ovals, while the factory ones, which were probably silk screened, only had one oval. I need to peel the inner oval off.

Did they do the "Ranger" font for the second gens too or just the ovals?

For first gens you could get either.

I haven't ever seen them with Ranger on them, but it's possible. These are the ones I've seen on every 89-90 STX

I forgot about those, I was thinking about the covers for nose lights.

Always make sure you follow the instructions!

I haven't been able to verify if these letters should be red... But this silver/grey set was the only one I could find anyway so on they went

The tailgate letters match the interior color from what I've seen... Mine's blue interior and blue letters, I've paid attention while driving around over the years and that's the conclusion I came up with... I've seen red with red and grey with grey, not sure what tan got, I don't remember seeing many of those, if that's mostly XLT then they got the stainless panel I guess.

By chance could you get a straight on picture of that from a few feet away? I have (well, I got it for the wife...) a Cricut and it's kinda a pain to to draw stuff, but it's super easy to crop stuff out of pictures, my tailgate letters are getting pretty bad... If I get it figured out I could make stickers for peeps or share the file if I figure that out...

Oh interesting. I'll have to pay attention to the colors on trucks I see and try to verify that. Every white STX I've seen has had red stripes and red interior, so they likely had red lettering as well. The one pic I've found of the rear of an STX had the stainless panel, but finding one of those that's in good shape is impossible. My truck has grey interior, which is incorrect for the red stripes, but correct for the tailgate letters. 50/50 isn't bad I guess.

I can do you one better and send you an .svg of the letters if that helps? Just give me a day or two to draw them up. (y)

You really need to find a red interior now...

Wonder what color letters a green truck should have? I have been dickering over that for awhile, mine has white but they are not original and I think were intended to tie into my white pinstripe which is also not original.

IIRC the tail gate panel was part of a package, not necessaruly a XLT thing. At least on the first gens.

I am in no hurry, it's somewhere near the bottom of a self height list of little junk that needs done to the '90 :). Most vehicle related projects have been on hold for about a year with my shop build... Hopefully get doors on in the next few days then in 3 weeks I can seal the concrete and start moving in...

Red interior. Woof. Never been a fan!

10-4, I'll let you know when I've drawn them up. I remember your shop project now, jelly!

How were the NOS tailgate stickers to apply? Still good or any weirdness to them due to age?

They were still good, plenty sticky and went on really easy with some soapy water. I tested the edge of one of them with my fingernail and it was on there really good. Hopefully the side stripes work just as well, crossing my fingers as waiting for it to warm up a bit; not supposed to apply them when it's cold

Only thing left to do is decals. Who wants to do it for me? I only get one shot at getting them perfect 😬
