if it cant hang it cant stay
I have a 99xlt I swapped a 3.0 in it for the most part runs fine misses now and then but I have a lot of black soot in my tail pipe what causes this???

Lots of it is incomplete combustion, either too much fuel or not enough air. A little bit is normal. Kinda happens when you burn things.

I know a little is normal but I parked beside my fiances white car and was mess in with her racked back the motor a couple times and the whole door was black I've noticed I'm gettin horrible gas mileage about the same as my 87 Chevy 4x4 with a holly 4 barrel and a heavy foot could it possibly be the PCM I got was from a return less fuel motor and its dumping more than I'm burning????

Yes. The wrong computer can cause all sorts of odd things to happen.

Ok well I got a 97 98 on tittle 3.0 ecm due to the 99 not having pats and someone said a while back 97 didn't have return lines on fuel it runs like a scalded ape sometimes then puts like billy Madison other times is there a pats delete I can do on old computer? I seen a guy earlier on a thread say they have pats delete chips what is this how does it hook ????

Due to the 99 having pats sorry my 2.5 didn't have pats and I done scrapped the other truck
