Thanks Guys! Being Truck Of The Month is one of my big goals too! Heres some new pics of the truck. I finished the fenders and got the snorkel mounted up:

Yesterday I drove to Leadville to get a new toy and the weather was pretty crappy:

I got the toy though!

I payed 450 bucks for it. Its a 82 yamaha 650xs Heritage Special... I think Im going to bob it out.

I also picked up a 2500w generator for 250bucks.

I have 2 front fenders for anyone who's interested:

Thats all Ive got for you today, I need to slap on a front bumper for Moab, we head out this Thursday!

So where do I begin! I got back from college around May 15th and I had trip planned with my friends to the Black Hills, SD. So you all know of the bike I bought awhile back and I told you I wanted to make a bobber out of it and that is what I did.
First was to cut the frame and weld on the hard tail:

Next I set my springer seat and tank:

Then I gave her a bit of paint:

Then the wiring and shes done!

The bike build took around three weeks.

Now for a few teaser pics of my last Moab trip. If you want to see more then you can add me of facebook just search Tommy Untiedt. My profile pic is of my truck climbing that concrete barrier. Send a message along with the friend request saying youre from the ranger station.
The guys I went with:

Golden Crack

Elephant Hill

Okay so I got back from my trip on Sunday and just before I left I did a little work on the truck.
I got a heavy duty 8.8 solid cover: Before:

After:

First cut line:

and it cut:

Second line:

Cut:

Here you can see how I want my rear bumper to be. I want to hang the shackles off the outside of the bumper.

So I am using the 64 inch chevy leafs and I decided if Im going to cut my frame I might as well do it once. I decided to move my rear axle forward 6 inches. I am going to put my gas tank in the truck bed and get a shortened drive shaft.

Tank Out:

Here you can see the space available to move the leaf spring hangers forward. I could move it 7 inches but I decided to move the lower rear hanger bolt to the lower front hanger position. (6 inches forward) I will take the front section of the bed where the gas tank filler cover is and that will be bobbed too.

Some welding on the bed bob.

I cut the rear portion of the bed underneath the tail light.

So I got the rear welding done on the bob tonight and decided to cut the front section. Heres the first cut:

I also got the second cut done too but I think I forgot to take a pic of it. Thats all I have for tonight and I will fill you in tomorrow, hopefully I will have the rear section welded and maybe ground down and ready for bondo.

Okay so here are some pictures of the things I didnt show you yesterday.
Here you can see the hanger moved forward and bolted up:

Distance shot:

All done welding:

All done grinding and shes on the truck:

I gave her a little bigger gap between the cab and bed because under full articulation the frame would bend a bit and cause the bed to rub on the cab.
Here you can really see the rear shackles and how good it will look:

Here is a far away shot. It kinda shows her size better:

Well I started the bondo process tonight and my lights shit out on me so no pics... More tomorrow though! :icon_thumby:

Okay so I got some bondo shots this morning, Im also filling all the dents:

So I went home today to pick up a bumper and some other odds and ends and on the way back home my dad pointed out some trailers on the side of the road. We checked them out and decided to get 2 of them.

They have basically brand new 37, 12.50 goodyear mt's on military bead locks. It has a pintle hitch and also purge brakes with full lights. We picked each one up for a low low price of 1050 bucks :yahoo:

I also got that old school gas can for 4 bucks.

Heres the bumper my dad said he had for me.

Im going to chop it down a bunch and "personalize" it a bit.

I also brought the old miller thunderbolt to burn on some of the thick shit on the truck.

Thats was it for today, more tomorrow!
