Lost oil pressure at some point while driving my 3L 94 ranger 4X4 and didn't notice the gauge soon enough. Now have bearing clatter.

What's usually the least expensive route to getting back on the road, crank job, engine swap, scrap it an buys something else? I really have no insight and would appreciate some experienced opinions.

Thanks

Jim

Do you have the know how and capability to pull the engine and tear it down yourself and repair it? If you have to pay someone to do all this, it's probably time for another vehicle. Labor rates are too high to pay someone to work on a truck that doesn't have much value to it in the first place.

If you can do all the work, the labor is free and it may make financial sense if the rest of the truck is in good shape.

You could get another good used engine and drop it in place. Again, only if you can do it yourself.
