They have changed their tires a lot over the years.

If the KO3 does in fact replace the KO2 across the board... I won't be aspiring for a set. I much prefer the timeless almost retro treadpattern of the pre-KO3. They kinda buggered up the sidwalls a little with the KO2 but for the KO3 all it has going for it is the solid white letter tires over other options... and in my size that isn't particularly special.

Now if you want a tire that has been made the same for decades @Jim Oaks so it really must be awesome... Thornbirds. :icon_idea:
That's spelled a lot different than I always hear it pronounced :)

You know, I was watching an off-road recovery video recently and they went to get a stuck vehicle and I’m looking at the vehicle thinking that it doesn’t look all that stuck for a knobby sidewall tire and then I saw the actual tread and it all suddenly made enough sense to make me giggle. Stupid Thorn…birds… almost said it… lol

I thought those tires went out in the 90'? I haven't seen them in decades. Apparently they're popular in Iowa.

A stockish rig on 31" tires is nearly as fun as a moderately built rig on 35" tires... and annoyingly nearly as capable unless you're getting into hairy situations in rocks or mud holes...
As someone who drives a stockish Ranger on 31’s, this is very true. It gets me to a lot of places I shouldn’t be 😆 including a mud hole during the fall adventure back in September.

I'm in a classic 4wd truck group on FB, one guy posted last week just as proud as could be he put new Thornbirds on his truck.

I had to go look and sure enough... after being made fun of for 25+ years they are actually still in production.

I don't know how that's even possible.

Friends don't let friends' wheel Thunderchickens (Thornbirds).

It was a 90's retro build, had the graphics and everything. Kinda neat in a looking at it but never bringing it home way.

Well, people with money drive the making of things, somehow the poser mobiles with a bunch of lift, rock lights, chromed and painted everything with small diameter wide tires with no sidewall convinced Super Swamper to make a bogger with like 2" sidewalls...

As someone who has a Bronco II on 35’s (which is pretty capable) and who has also wheeled a stock 1989 Bronco II Eddie Bauer with full sway bars on 30x9.5-15 mud tires … yeah… I mean, it takes a little less effort and finesse to do it on 35’s, but back when I wheeled the stock truck, it used to annoy my buddy with a YJ on 34” LTBs that I could follow him just about anywhere on the trails.

I have zero issues with my MT tires on wet pavement and they last me just as long as AT tires do.

nobody is doubting that. just depends on where you live. some areas the pros outweigh the cons.

that tracks. Iowa is 30 years behind. (almost as bad as Indiana...)
