Best OBD scanner tool under $200

Hey all,

I'm looking at getting a scanning tool for home use. Nothing fancy, but something that can read codes and help point me in the direction of an issue in my Ranger.

I came across the Bluedriver today and I dig it's Bluetooth compatibility with my iPhone. Anyone out there using this tool or anything else they like that wont break the bank?

If you're just trying to see codes, you can get away with less than $30.

In conjunction with the TorquePro app on my phone. $5.99 shipped for the OBD2 module, and the app is free. Of course, it was so good, I paid for the no ads version and a couple extra features.


However, it does NOT address Battery Maintenance Servicing BMS, Safety Restraint Services SRS, Antilock Braking System SRS, and Tranmission Diagnostic Codes DTC.

I have no experience or recommendations in that respect if you are looking for a scanner that does that as well though.

If you are only going to be working on Fords ForScan is the best.

If you are going to work on other brands TorqPro is the best.

This is the one I just purchased as well, $15 with free shipping on ebay, connects to your android phone and I am using the Car Scanner App from the Google Play Store, its free and has a lot of data both live as well as reads codes, etc. Seems to work fine, I don't have anything very new, works with my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee...totally useless in vehicles without OBD2 of course LOL.
