I am going to upgrade the wiring to the battery. I need to upgrade the battery clamps as well. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good set of battery clamps?

Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
Terminals? I use marine grade, or platinum coated on my DD Corolla, and havent had any corrosion in years.

They are all good if you put them on right. Even the cheap ones can last if done right. The ground wire normally gets the green corrosion pretty bad. Get some die-electrical grease or bulb grease and that will help keep corrosion down.

I just use the cheap red and black lead ones. Typically they get replaced every two or three years.

I have military style terminals on mine.

There are many others that work good too though.
Just don't use the clamps that clamp the battery cable down with a little metal clip and two hex bolts on the end (junk). Also, lead terminals seem to be better than zinc (or whatever it is the lead-free ones are made of)


Corrosion usually comes about because of acid leakage.
On a wet-cell type battery, I always pull the caps off and wrap 1½ turns of teflon pipe thread seal tape around each plug, and then reseat the caps onto the battery case. Done right, this pretty much eliminates any leakage from under the caps (and therefore the corrosion as well).

lol... those would be the "junk" I have been using of late. That is why they just get replaced every couple of years. I may take a closer look at the ones you poster 4x4junkie.

When I had my buggy shop... I also repaired a smaller fleet of trucks and equipment. I would use the solder on terminals. They are a little tough to use as repair ends... but if you're making new cables... these are a good bet.

I like those ones. I use them with eye end cables, so I can bolt to the cable end and have a totally modular cable.

That's a good idea I hadn't thought of. I can see how that would work a lot better than clamping the bare end of the wire in them (what they're supposedly designed for).

Solder-on ones however are probably the most reliable of any when soldered well.
