Banjo bolt to fitting question!

Guys, I ordered stainless braided brake lines, description says 10mm banjo....I just realized my banjo bolts are 3/8x24.....I can reuse my bolts......but will the actual banjo fitting still work or is it different for 3/8??

As long as the bolt fits in and the crush washer is on the sealing surface you should be good.

3/8" and 10mm are close enough that it should work fine. Having the right threads is the important part, plus good crush washers. Some recommend always using new washers. I have re-used them many times with good success.

To put the "crush" back into copper gaskets, heat them up red hot with a propane torch and drop them into water. You will be able to bend them with your fingers easily if done right.

Thanks for the advice guys! I did go back to the order and it does state 3/8-10mm banjo fitting. I have never heard of heating them up Always, I guess you're basically annealing the copper huh

Yes, it is annealing the copper.

Thanks for the edumacation! I mean. I do buy new ones every now and then. They're cheap. But if the old ones don't leak, they must be good enough.

Most hardware kits come with new washers. I know some people who refuse to use the new ones and some people refuse to reuse the old ones. If it were me, I would use the new ones and save the old ones. I put my old ones in my toolbox I keep in the back seat. They wont get lost and they are in the truck if I need them. However I never had a new one leak. Just make sure you clean the surface area really good with a soft wire brush and brake cleaner and you will be good to go.
