car-part.com lists the 3:55 ratio as 8.8 only, checked 2003 and 1997.
they list the inventory for lots of salvage yards.

Jegs does not list 3:55 for the 7.5 either.

I imagine you could use a rear axle from a first or second gen (83-88, 89-92) that have 3.45 or 3.55, 7.5" rear axle options available but you would need one with an ABS sensor, so that rules out '85 and older. '89 and older will also have a smaller pinion flange which will not be ideal.

Limited slips in those gear ratios are very hard to find, especially in 7.5 axles.

I'd really consider the Ranger 8.8 with 3.55s route, it's bolt in, bigger ring & pinion, probably bigger brakes too. A lot of 8.8s came with limited slips as well.
