Hey guys, is there a way to add or modify my stock receiver for a 3.5mm aux in cable to be able to run audio from phone or ipod using the stock system? It's for an 05 edge and I think the sound quality is decent so not really looking to replace head unit for an aftermarket one. The OEM system is also not a theft magnet.
thanks, Joe

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Yup. That's ^^^ the easiest way. They work great.

For someone who doesn’t have a lot of new technology in his Ranger... You sure have a lot of new technology in your Ranger... Mr. Fancymirror.
An fm transmitter is new technology? To the telegraph station at once to alert the townspeople!

I can't stand people who use these things. They always seem to find the station I am listening to and then pull up right behind or next to me at the light.
What happens?

Since the signal from the FM transmitter adapter is not limited to just your car, but to an area about 50 to 100 ft in diameter, when you pull up next to another car that was listening to the station that broadcasts in the frequency your transmitter is set to, instead of listening to what they wanted to hear they get to listen to whatever garbage you are listening to.

The one I showed goes through the antenna wire. it has virtually no broadcast range. It's sending the signal from the aux input straight back to the radio through the trucks antenna wire, not broadcasting to the trucks antenna itself. Plus they always use the lowest number stations like 87.9 where there's usually nothing on. You gotta be listening to static on a crappy station and be somehow parked inside my truck to get interference. :dunno:

Please don't park inside my truck.
