Bought an engine (that's now rebuilt) ready to install this fall. Engine is 1986but I have used just the short block and heads to install on my 1989 bronco. With the engine came a Tranny in a basket with all new gaskets and new parts to rebuild it.
Question is this since neither had a ID tag but the one that came with the engine has the same numbers stamped on the tail shaft (shifter cable side) except the last (2) digits. P-86GT-7006-1-6069D F2 (1986)
P-86GT-7006-1-6069D F6 (1989)
89 is in a bronco---the other SUPPOSEDLY came from a bronco also.(it's a 4WD case)
CAN I REBUILD THE EARLIER TRANNY AND INSTALL IN THE 89 WITH THE REBUILD ENGINE??????
