Ok, I have a 1988 ranger 4x4 with an automatic and the push button 4x4. The push button 4x4 has given me trouble ever since I got the Ranger.:bawling: My question is what is all needed to put a manual T-case in? Any info will help thanks, Seth

Will I have to put it in neutral than every time I switch between 2x4 and 4x4? And I heard there is a plate right were my floor shifter is, and that i just need to move my shifter over and put the t-case shifter there?

you can swap your floor plate out for the manual tcase plate and no you have shift on the fly. you can be in 2 and put it in 4 high.. 4 low you should come to a stop and then put it in low range.

Figured i'd post on this rather than start a whole new thread. Manual hubs do not need to be swapped in as well in this case? I did not swap hubs yet and can't seem to get four wheels going.

Manual hubs are not a requirement with the transfer case swap , but they should be included if you want a reliable truck.

I did manual hubs when I bought my truck, witht he E transfer case.
I now have a manual Transfer Case and got a second set of manual hubs from the wrecking yard off of an Explorer.

If you are not getting the front to engage you need hubs as one of your auto hubs is broke.

Shift on-the-fly only works with the electric shift T-case and auto hubs because of the electromagnetic "spin-up clutch" that is built into the E-shift T-case.

IF you want to be able to shift into 4x4 "on-the fly" with a MANUAL T-case you MUST have MANUAL HUBS and they must be already locked in.

And spinning the same speed or stopped. They don't like it when the rear wheels are spinning and the front are not and you pop it in.
