Yes, I know I should just get manual hubs, but for the meantime I dont have alot of money. But my auto hubs are trying to engage whenever the wheels are turned, either direction, doesnt matter. Sometimes it will just ratchet. But its always whenever the wheels are turned, even the slightest bit. Anybody have any ideas to fix this?

the auto hubs only lock in when the axle shaft rotates in the direction of desired travel, if they are locking in when the front output of the transfer case isn't engaged then there is something wrong and probably not with the hubs themselves. If I had to guess it's an outer U joint issue and they could be what is "ratcheting", jack the front tires up and start turning things, you should be able to spin a tire freely until you turn the corresponding axle shaft then it should lock up.

If the U joints check out, take the hubs out and hose them out with brake clean or starting fluid to get whatever buildup is in them out

Well the thing is, at the moment I have no front driveshaft in place, and the rear U-joints check out fine. But I can hear either the clunk from the front end or the ratcheting and I had my dad watch and when it clunks he can see the front pinion try to move. Ill give them a clean out sometime this week. Hopefully my job interview goes well and I can buy myself some manual hubs :p
