So I know the m5od calls for ATF, I grabbed a gallon of the Oriellys Autoparts all purpose ATF n a qt n a half of the original Lucas oil stabilizer, it says on it you can mix with ATF
I've seen what Lucas does to oil so is assume it's going to have a lot better lubrication

My m5od came out of a 92 ranger with 4.0
It's going into a 89 b2 with 4.0 tom so I need to know...
Has any one ever had a bad experience with Lucas in this trans??
Should I do it or no?
I also heard and absured thing about motor oil like 5w-30 or something???
Wouldn't the Lucas ATF mix be comparable if not better then motor oil?

I've used it and had no problems or positive effects.

Rebuilt my transmission and have had plain ATF ever since

I use 1qt of Lucas in all my fluids.

My stock M5 was hurt, and was doomed for the scrap heap. I drove 50mi with no oil in it, at which point it had +270k mi on it. My truck sounded like it had an 8-71 blower on it. I put 2qts of Lucas in it. Quieted right up, mostly, and I went another 10k mi on it.

It turned out to have a bad pocket bearing, and the teeth 3/4 wore off the input/ counter gears. And I was actually still running it, i only tore it down, rebuilt, and modified it because of a broken shift fork, and to finally fix the leaky case/ tail shaft seal.

Lucas is good stuff just mix as per instructions, I put lucas gear oil in my wifes rear end on her low mile Mecury and the difference in the sound level was real noticeable, just make sure that the atf meets ford service specs
