AOD swap into a ranger help with shifter options

I have a 89 ranger that has a 5.0 HO motor in it with an aod. I am trying to figure out something to do for a shifter for it right now I just have the cable coming through the floor. I dont want to order a new one from jegs or anywhere like that cause they run about 200 bucks complete so im trying to see if there are any other solutions that anyone has done. If so please let me know so I can get a shifter in this thing thanks in advance

Could you possibly look for a fox body mustang auto shifter? That might fit, and look nice if you extend the stick a bit?

Ive actually made shifters for race cars, Its not that hard if you can fab&weld a little.

About 8 years ago I had a 83 Ranger with a 302 and C4 in it. It had an old floor shifter from a 70s Mustang in it and it looked factory in the truck!
My thoughts would be to try to use a shifter from an 88 and back Bronco 2 with an AOD. I know 87s had floor shifters, 89s had column shifters, but 88s Im not 100% sure but Im thinking floor as well. I would think that would work, or as suggested find one from a Mustang.
