Anyone tried to fix valve covers leak with this ?

Tom morana have those valve cover rails but it is not cheap, if it fix the leaks for good it's worth it I think, did someone tried this ?

I tried the fel pros that have the silicone bead, also tried the traditional cork. both worked fine. it migt the valve covers. I used a ball peen hammer to re flatten the bolt holes on my covers. Flipped em upside down on some 2x4, set the ball peen on the bolt hole, and gave it a smack with another hammer. Did ths all he way around and then buffed it lean with a scuff pad.

I forgot to add, make sure you install the bolts in a circular pattern, and do not overtorque them. you can always tighten them down a bit more later.

Many of the valve cover gasket leaks I've dealt with on RBV vehicles have been caused by dried out cork gaskets or way over tightening the bolts or leaving the little "wing" washers out... or the bolts backing out, blue loctite is just about a necessity I think.

I try to use Felpro Perma-dry gaskets when possible and am very careful about how tight I get the bolts. I really don't think those are necessary but they would certainly help clamp down on the entire sealing surface.

Cork and RTV worked for me. The Fel-Pro gasket leaked on me even with proper tightening. Those gaskets look just like the fel pros to me.

I like the locktite idea!

Making sure the valve covers are flat and clean, using quality gaskets(Felpro is my favorite), and not over tightening the bolts are excellent recommendations. A dab of RTV where the head meets the intake is cheap insurance. I wouldn't use locktite on the bolts, just retighten them once in a while. The bolts don't back out, the gaskets slowly crush down over time.

I do wish there was aftermarket cast covers available for the V6, the 4.0 I had always leaked a little on the left bank, the silicone fel-pro covers helped but didn’t completely cure it, wasnt a horrible leak but could smell oil occasionally from the leakage on to the manifold.

I managed to snag a NOS valve cover off fleabay. Its the side that has the oil filler cap. I may sell it.

I use the cork gasket put a thin layer of rtv and let it dry all the way flip over and do other side then I stall on truck. My son's truck hasn't leaked in 30k since that and never had to re tighten...

I've thought of using those myself (haven't got to rebuilding my spare engine yet, though).
In theory, they should help a lot. My understanding is they replace the weird wing washers with a thick torque distributing band.
I'm currently running felpro gaskets with the service manual's recommended torque. I think those slowed leaks. I'd be very interested in seeing that morana part in action.

Mine don't leak. I flatten out the flanged part of the cover before installing, and go easy on the torque.
