Ubuntu 11 just came out, thinking about upgrading my thumb drive to the latest portable version of that.

People actually use Vista?
Actually about half of NON-Mac desktop computers still use XP,
but that percentage is falling.

Another 30odd percent of NON-Mac PC users have gone on to Windows7

LAst I checked about 13% of Non-Mac PC users still had Vista and that percentage is falling... fairly quickly as such things go...

how bad Vista was tended to be exaggerated... and was caused mainly
by people who switched marginal XP machines to Vista...

I never had any real problem with the factory Vista on my notebook

Frankly THE reason I wanted to switch to Win7 was because getting
computers to share files is one hell of a lot easier with Win7

BTW, what about the various versions of Linux? they are bunched in with the PC's that have been "hackintoshed" and all the minnor OS's that you've never heard of... and likely never will... together they fill out the last few percent

No offense on the Vista. I wasn't putting it down. I've used it once, just didn't take to it. Many people complained about it. From what I've read many upgraders to 7 were Vista users. Now with SP1 for 7, many XP users are starting the switch. Vista didn't take off in the corporate world as well as expected. I'm using XP, 7, and a few Linux versions myself.
I even use 98 in some cases!:icon_twisted:

No offence taken, but to be specific Microsoft's specifications on what
system recources were needed to run Vista were (to be kind) a bit optimistic.

XP will run nicely with 512mb of ram, Vista? Hahahahaha.....

Add to that the fact that any machine that does run vista tends to run Win7
a whole bunch better...

People tend to forget that XP before Service pack 1a was no real prize either.

it got better with SP2, and while I think SP3 brought even more improvements the WGA component of XP-sp3 really put the tin-foil hatters off their anti-psychotic meds.....
