Is anyone using an Esslinger D-port intake. I put my motor together leaned towards low end torque for drivability and climbing hills but it runs worse than my old 250k mile 2.3 below 3k rpms. It comes on hard after that but I have a stock Ranger roller cam that seems to run out about 4500 rpm. Can this intake really move the rpm range that much? The truck is an 87' with an '88 Mustang block. '85? D-port head that has bolt pattern for EFI or carb. Head shaved just enough to make it flat again and ports just cleaned up not massive porting. I use a real long tube header, not a factory manifold, the Essy intake and at first a 1.08 2100 but now a 1.08 2150 carb. My truck had a slider cam so I thought the roller would help out with bottom end. I've been over the timing a dozen times to make sure the cam wasn't off. I use the stock Duraspark ignition. For the record my truck was a 2.0 and came with a carb, i didnt swap out EFI. So is this intake really this bad for a street motor? I have an E1 d-port intake but my gas line comes out right into the back off the alternator. If it matters I don't have power steering or brakes and I used the stock mechanical fuel pump.
