Taking a 800 mile trip to georgia all highway so I'm thinking of filling up a tank with some good quality gas and throwing in a can of that BG 44K fuel injector cleaner on the way down. It's suppose to be really strong stuff. Anyone ever use it? Is it worth 30 bucks? :dunno:

Just figured a nice long highway run would be good time to use a tank with it in there?

There's nothing actually wrong with the truck, the long term fuel trims have been creeping up over the years. (At about +12 now) even though it runs smooth as butter. Figured maybe an injector cleaning may help a bit.

I would do it before your trip.

If you have varnish in the tank it may mess up a fuel pump or plug fuel filter.

I have never used it though, there is a lot of cleaners in modern gas.

I almost always use quality gas like Chevron or shell v power and throw in a little bottle of lucas or seafoam once or twice a year. I've just been reading about this 44k stuff and its "suppose" to be more of a industrial grade cleaner not just a maintenance thing. I see your point though. Maybe I'll just put it in and do a run to the beach and back before my big trip.

Like I said my main reasoning is trying to get my fuel trim back down. I know theres no miracle liquid in a can. But I tested for vacuum leaks, fuel pressure is excellent, I do my maintenance religiously. Maf and throttle body are immaculate, good plugs and wires, new fuel filter, air filter... all that stuff. And only 68k on the truck. (But severe driving miles).

The only injector cleaner I ever found that actually works. I got mine on ebay for $20.

Ill deal with the bugs for the chance to catch and eat fresh gator and crawfish. Plus my sister wants me to get rid of the rattlesnakes on her 120 acre property so more yummies... im driving down with nothing but a bbq grill, a rifle, my taurus 410, and crawfish traps.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.

@8thTon I thought of that too, think they can really be bad at only 68k?

Dunno, they gradually change characteristics to read leaner, so the fuel system puts in more fuel to compensate. I don't know how fast they age - I will try to find some info on that as mine are probably original at 120k mi.

EDIT: Looks like they degrade due to contaminants mostly, so it would depend on the history of your engine. I read that silicone, sulfur, oil ash and some fuel additives can degrade them.
