I just picked up a pair of 35x13.5 baja claws and was wandering if anyone on here has been able to stuff 35s with out lift? im not scared to get the sawzall out just wandering how the clearance is at the firewall. my pickup is an 86 supercab with a slight trim to run 32s and now going for 35s.

You prob hit some where even with more fender trimming. When turning you will prob hit the dog house. I would just put a 3in body lift and more trimming and call it good to go. But i would also change out the gears.

depending on wheel offset and actual tire size they will rub the floor and get cut up. nothing a sawzall and hammer cant minimize. i actually cut my pinch seams and plated them on one side(drivers) and before i could get the other side done i destroyed the seam from impacts and fawked up my tire...

i have seen it done a few times though, so it can happen.

to give you an idea this is @ 6+ in lift with 3 in b/l...but with the fenders cut and bulged like this these 35 in tires would fit with stock suspension

fits 42's

and 44's when needed.

perfect example of offset and actual tire size variations:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

in the pic above you can find yourself getting away with it till you use some travel....where my wheel-tire combo with the 35's in my post, would rip the fenders right off the truck above turning on flat ground...35 in tires true....but there's a huge variance with wheel width, actual tire width, and wheel offset.

thats also as wheel bearing friendly as it gets for 35 in tires too.

I was just going to take a BFH to the fire wall to fold over the seams and then get some thin sheet metal to put on it to help keep from killing the tires to bad. they will just be on when we go to the mountains for some snow.

got the tires on the truck. no pics yet but with slight trim of the fenders and folding the seams on the firewall and hacking up the plastic inner fender. also had to slide the e-brake cable over some. it will rub some at full lock and stuff on the firewall but should be good to go now.

you could throw some spacers in the front and get it aligned, just so you have a bit of clearance.

I would also extend the radius arms, do the 63in spring swap and f250 shock mounts and some eb coils.

It would be low and flexy

thats a good idea. im looking at doing a d44 and 9" swap here soon though and building a new engine cross member so I can keep the overall hight as low as possible. will probably happen after i blow my d28 and 7.5
