I'm considering a move to Knoxville, TN. Anyone here in that general area? Curious about the lifestyle and industry in the area.

I lived in Knoxville for 7 years. Nice place to live. Fairly slow pace. Housing is reasonable, lots to do. The downside is the road system is a disaster. You have to adjust how you view travel. It's not "how far away is it?" it's "how long does it take to get there?"

Down here we have two ways to go into/out of Baton Rouge heading east. Same for west, actually. With all the construction and crap it's outrageous. Huge delays on a daily basis.

WOW. I can get a house with 1,000 sf more than my house on twice the acreage for half the price I paid for my house. Five minutes from my potential new place of business.

I have lived in Western North Carolina for a year and a half, moved here from Colorado. I really like Eastern Tennessee. Not sure about industry there...there's not much happening here that's for sure.

I moved to Oak Ridge after living my entire life in Mid TN. Been here almost 6 yrs now and love it. Great schools for my boys, better paying jobs, great housing choices, and of course the scenery is beautiful. Everything you would want to do is close by and there are great places to go wheeling. Lots of wheelers around but unfortunately not many RBVs.
Don't know what your field of work is but living out from Knoxville has its advantages. I'm only 15-25 mins from my job and any shopping, eating, or nightlife that I'm interested in. Plus only 10 mins to Windrock which is 72,000 acres of wheeling.

Vanessa and I are moving to that region after my youngest (15 now) graduates High School. We went down last summer and searched for houses in the Sevierville and Wears Valley Area (close to pigeon forge).
