I have 91 Ford Ranger It idols good till it warms up driving down the road at highway speed‘s. It starts bucking and looses power let off throttle pedal a little bit it stops bucking till u press on the gas peddle again

How old is the oxygen sensor.

I had a Nissan pickup that did that. It ended up being the fuel filter. Might be something to look at.

I would seriously look into vacuum leaks (anything after the MAF up until the cylinder head) as metered air leaks are a pain and they don't deal with them well. and like adsm said putting a $35 O2 sensor in would not hurt a thing since it's probably 28 years old... Fuel filter is $8 and a 5 minute change also, inside the frame rail right under the drivers seat.

Not to mention its an item with a regularly scheduled service interval that is often overlooked by most people.

Some people won't even do that.

I had one customer, crotchety old guy, about 100 years old when Henry was taking his landlord for a ride on the Quadracycle, and he insisted that you do not change oil because its bad for the engine and causes leaks and bottom end failures. We found this out because we noticed his oil hadn't been changed in over 25K miles, tried to sell him an oil change, then offered to GIVE him an oil change for free because he was an otherwise good customer, and he wouldn't do it.

My dad who is notorisouly bad at vehicle maintenece has a 01 town and country with a 3.8L that he bought in 05 with 85,000miles.

Useing only cheapo oil, cheapo filters (from walmart, victory lane, etc) and changing the oil, on average 20-30k a change, that thing is STILL running (and running good, sidelined due to brake issues and he bought a 2013 town and country), with 365,000 miles.
