Still on the look out for a diesel ranger in the New England area. Mostly want just the motor, wiring harness and door decals etc. Pretty much parts needed for the swap. I am looking for a diesel or a turbo diesel. Thank you.

My credo
Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
There was one for sale up here in maine a few years ago, dropped a valve or something, and they wanted 4k lol.

Good luck!

R 2.8....best way to go.

Then the VW offerings.

From there...the JDM market is ideal. You can get a full running powertrain that is fitable....the Hilux are bamf.

The oem ford stuff would be my last option.

There is a guy in GA that has the perkins one the 2.2 I believe. But he is being a butt when it comes to doing any leg work to sell it. The wanted to charge me 5k to install the trans in the truck. And I was like fine, if you can get it done deal. Because he didn't think that I would agree to such a outrageous price. Then he started to back out and say that he wasn't willing to do even that. So now I am back at square one....

I have the VW swap on the list if I can't find one in the rangers. I personally hate working on VW's. Did so in the dealerships and was like eh, I'm good. So it's a last resort for me right now. If still nothing else pops up. I did find this on ebay, I sold my mill and my lathe. I would have to look into it and see about custom bellhousings, you know the works. making motor mounts is cake. I'm guessing wiring harness either a custom bell housing and mounts to attached to "current trans" if I kept it. If not I would have to look into what is needed to keep the truck 4wd. https://www.ebay.com/itm/263339281577?_trkparms=ispr=1&amdata=enc:AQAFAAAAkG96CH+nHaxJg1cwJTjBcYOQPNoWph9myHh4974XfbWJ1X+V9GstoYtw0+nQiD09f+cgyNrbA1o+9breBEZDTyvN0QAou9AYl6uCOhlCUPRO8t34rOyGSy/FLQM1e9fwOjbba5Sjnwb+OtYnjhXsflNnMxXRrmO96jgXUGbNkUI9DTlLALnIeRbAuuGhBFsmrg==&chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&itemid=263339281577&targetid=1262931797002&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9001700&poi=&campaignid=12874656234&mkgroupid=123924945962&rlsatarget=pla-1262931797002&abcId=9300535&merchantid=115280763&gclid=Cj0KCQjwktKFBhCkARIsAJeDT0hjnaclQ7YKn4zJ0gHsXaSVH5B-5lhOdCcRolZFuh-aVqLmm1FES1UaAtL0EALw_wcB

I like my 6.2 for driving, it's tolerable....but towing....it's a pig.

Had a few deals go bad for the GEP versions and it is frustrating. I want a turbo....but zero trust in a 660 block. The r 2.8 can easily out perform the 6.2....but I am a cheap bastard.. what is funny...I can do a Duramax now cheaper then a gep hummer engine ... And these toy powertrains are on my radar because of that.

Study the VW builds here. They are easy money.
