I've been wondering if anyone on here hauls cars or equipment with a 3500 series truck. I don't want to drive a tractor/trailer, maybe just a 3500 series with a gooseneck trailer. There's a guy in my neighborhood who does and i'm going to talk to him about it but I was interested to see if anyone else on here has. I've been trying to find what all I would need to do this besides a truck/trailer and I haven't had much luck. I'm looking on my DOT website right now. Any help/insight is much appreciated.

I see trailers everyday, we build them at our shop LOL everything from 4x8s to 40' triple duallies.

You can tow an 18' car hauler with drop flexi-ride axles with a 3/4 ton all day. I've pulled a 91 tempo on an 18' with my SD without a problem. Depending on the trailer's brakes (hydraulic coupler OR electric) you may have to get a trailer brake controller installed in your truck, aside from that it's just a matter of finding the trailer heh.

here's a custom equipment hauler we did for a customer with a skidsteer.

I'm looking for something to haul 2-3 vehicles around the country to make some money, not just because I want to.

This is more of what I was looking at:

Take licensing into account first when selecting a truck/trailer:
•Class A -- Any combination of vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
•Class B -- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
•Class C -- Any single vehicle, or combination of vehicles, that does not meet the definition of Class A or Class B, but is either designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver, or is placarded for hazardous materials.
That trailer up there is an 18,000# GVWR trailer. You will want a 12,000# GVWR trailer I think, because an F350 is going to have around a 10-12,000# GVWR. A 30' decked trailer is going to weigh over 5,000# empty so you'll only have room for 7,000#--two Camry-sized cars or a single bigger vehicle, like an F150. Unless you get a Class A license so you can pull a 50', 20,000# gvwr wedge.

Look at this site.

Thank you for the information and site Will. I'm going to look at an 08 F-450 right now. I probably won't get it but i'm going to test drive it and do some more research.
