Each state has it's own requirements for "Antique Tags".
Some states make you wait 30 years, some it's 25 years.
Anybody here running 'Antique' or 'Classic' plates on their Ranger.
If so, what are your state requirements, and what does the plate look like (pics plz)?
Any vanity tags would be welcome too, I suppose.

Some states let you actually register a vintage plate as your antique vehicle plate. so if you have a 1968 Camaro, and you find a 1968 plate for your state, you can register it with that plate. Not sure what the cost or other hurdles that must be jumped through (although I would imagine that the plate in question must be in good readable condition)

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Maines only requirements are that the vehicle is not modified, and that its not your primary source of transport.

Not very heavily enforced from what I can tell lol. Always see a blown big tire '55 chevy rolling around with no hood on antique plates.

This is a NH antique plate with glare added by poor photography. In NH, a vehicle has to be over 25 years old and used for shows ,parades, exhibitions, etc. Modified vehicles like mine are OK. When I was working I'd drive it every day, weather permitting, and park on the patio in front of the showroom for 2 reasons: I figured that counted as an exhibition an customers seemed to like it, and 2: the building shaded the car from about 3 pm on so it was a lot cooler. Using an antique for everyday commuting is not allowed, but I figured taking it to show everyday was OK. Total cost to register it is $26 a year. My Ranger doesn't have antique plates yet.

PA used to let you do classic or antique plates and you didn’t need an annual inspection, just had a mileage limit but they changed that a couple years back. I think antique you still don’t have to have an inspection but you only get like 500 miles a year of something. I was going to do it to my choptop and my 88, put classic plates on that is, but when they changed things…

Antique, 25 years old, I'm pretty sure is still exempt from inspections and safety inspections, anything 25 years old has very lenient emissions inspections anyway. Classic, 15 years or older, are exempt only from emissions and still must pass safety inspections.

Both must be in a factory maintained or restored condition. Permitted use shall be limited to participation in club activities, exhibits, tours, parades, occasional transportation and similar uses.” Occasional transportation and similar uses are defined as no more than one day a week. I believe they are also not permitted to be driven at night or in the rain, but not 100% on that.

Any vehicle not kept in a factory condition can apply for a "modified Title", the vehicle needs to go through an pa advanced inspection, ad special inspection stations, just like a R title. still has to pass safety and emissions standards, I think for the year of original manufacture.

Antique tag (a lot of times people will find a plate from a similar year to when the car was made and they can use that as a vanity plate with an antique title)

I had it backwards, they are only exempt from Emissions.
That sounds right. Last I checked too, PA is getting strict about modified vehicles and inspections. So classics because they now fall under inspection rules don’t get to be modified without a modified title. Which I think is kinda bullshit.

Most things "the state" does is bullshit.

Like.. theres no way to have a real rat rod in maine. This would need windows and the exhaust wouldn't fly AT ALL regardless of plate choice.

Are you saying the inspectors would object to having the exhaust dump directly in front of the drivers face? 🤣
