As some of you know (ok maybe lots of you)
I'm doing a SAS on my truck using a Dana 30.

My axle came from an 86 XJ, and has the hated vacuum disconnect.
Im willing to give it a try, so my cousin will give me an electrovalve to control the vacuum to engage/disengage it.

Now my question is:
Should i wire up a switch on the dash to control said valve?
basically a switch will control the axle from engaging, or should i use the signal from the t case shift switch to control the valve?
That way as soon i engage 4H the axle will be locked too.

So having low range in 2wd is really worth? :dunno:
or its not needed?

Lets get some opinions. :icon_thumby:

I would do the switch on the dash. That way you can control when the axle is locked. And you will never know when you might wan't to cruise around in low 2wd. Plus being able to control if the axle is locked and unlocked may help you with fuel mileage.

1. i don't see 2wd low important. not many have that option anyways. i've never needed low range where 4wd didn't work good enough

2. i'd bypass that crap disconnect.. but, since it is a DD being able to leave it unlocked except when needed would be nice... do the switch on the dash.

I would just do a seperate switch with a relay. I don't know what the t-case module would think of the added resistance that running the CAD would throw at it.

To be honest, I don't know if I ever have used the 2 low option yet after having my Ranger for 11 years... but I do know modules can be picky about such things.

I would use a cable to control the CAD, there are kits available that work very well or you can easily make your own. It works better than a vacuum system and you can be sure when you are connected or not.Two wheel low is very useful if you ever have to back in a trailer.

I cant get a kit, shipping for it will eat all my funds for this haha.
And about the added resistance, the t-case has a shift switch like the one for the reverse lights.
once its on 4h, it sends a ground signal. Thats how i wired my dash lights, the t-case provides the ground for them.
So the electrovalve wuld be wired the same way. a constant 12v and the ground coming from that switch.

I like the switch idea. Gives you more driving modes to choose from.
