My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
leafs have to have a shackle to work so I guess you mean put bigger shackle.
I'm not planning any mods yet, 31" should be just fine on the wheels
carrier is another question for sure

(1997)
215's was stock on 4x4
235's came with pref eq pkg (either pkg)
265's were optional (what I have, or will have, once I replace the 235's on there now)

on 4x2 195's were stock
could also get 215, 225, and 235 on 4x2

was looking at front suspension and found mini-shock absorber, looks like a hood or trunk piston, going from frame to body, looks like
in front of the spring kind of bizarre

I'm having a bit of difficulty on figuring out what that might me. A picture might help.

It was like that when I found it.
Yep dampner. Not really important. I'm sure mines not doing much after 25 years and over 200k.

Yup, none of mine have that dampener. Well, my 92 had it until I had to replace the engine and I don’t think I bothered to transfer that to the new motor. None of the others I have came with it.

My F-150, however, I’m thinking I’m going to have to chain that beast down after it ripped a motor mount in half, safety pin and all, and ate the upper rad hose in the process. Twice now if memory serves correctly. Something on my list when it gets it’s next overhaul. I’m not decided if I want to try for bigger rear driveshaft U-joints on it as it will just find the next weakest link then. Thing has some no-joke torque.
