What are the wire colors?

Purple and green/yellow?

Could be for AC, do you have AC?

The plug looks exactly like the a/c plug on my 89, in the same spot as well. My wires are black green and yellow. What year is your truck?

Yes it’s the ac plug. It’s the same as mine. my a/c has been removed so I use it to turn on my light bar. I hit the a/c button and light up the night.
Idea stolen! I will do this.

No way!!! That's an awesome idea! I deleted my ac years ago. Never thought of using the button to power something else!

I figured why waste a perfectly good switch already wired into the fuse panel with a 30 amp fuse.

Alert alert!!!! Don’t use the a/c plug/switch for your light bar.
So it works kinda but I didn’t think it thru. As the weather has gotten cooler I I turned on the defrost and boom my light bar came on. Lol😂😆🤣. I didn’t think it thru. Defrost uses the a/c circuit to dry the air only on full defrost not when split with floor or panel. Crap! It was cool while it lasted. Sorry gang.

Edit. Read the whole thread. Issue has been overcome. 😎

Couldn't you use a diode somehow to prevent that?

If so I haven’t figured that out. I just didn’t want someone to score a ticket for running their off road lights in the street.

If you want to pull out the Climate control panel you can cut one of the 2 Jumper wires that activate AC when in Defrost mode
Or un-pin it from connector, put tape on the pin

Below is a 1991 but was the same up thru 1994 with the Slider switch style Climate Control panels
