Is this the amp on my 04 Fx4 ? I want to install a cheap subwoofer and according to schematic it has a amp. All I need is a place to tie in to a speaker wire and figured it is supposed to have a amp so that would be the best place.

Picture is of the 4x4CM(control module), remember its location, those units are failure prone

Amp should be behind the passenger side rear panel on extended cab Rangers

But if you have Bucket seats and an automatic it could be under center console

This is assuming you had a premium sound system, not all Rangers did

Have a look here at 2004 diagrams: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/radio_wiring_diagrams.shtml

Connectors and wire colors will tell you what you have/had

No, that is not a stereo amp. Appears to be your 4X4 control module.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I thought 4x4cm meant " 4 megawatts by 4 Channel Music"

What part of "4x4CM" jumps out, grabs you, and shouts "This must be an amp"?

Fun fact, Amp is short for amplifier.

We sure do have a bunch of smart ass people on here. It looked like the wires went from the radio to the plug in the back of that part that I took a picture of. As I said in the original post I have a cheap subwoofer that I want to install so I am looking for the easiest place to get the speaker wire and according to the wiring diagram there is supposed to be a amp with a connection for the sub. Ron, I'm not positive it has a premium sound system it has a AM,FM with a CD player. It doesn't have a equalizer, the truck has bucket seats and manual trans. So if I understand this, the only way to figure out what radio I have is to see what color wires are being used ?

See that guys... he called us smart.
It’s better to be a smart ass, than a dumb ass.

I checked the Ford website.
There were 3 different options in ‘04:
1. Standard, no amp.
2. Audiophile, just a subwoofer amp.
3. Tremor, single amp got speakers and subwoofer.

Both show the amp mounted under the center console. Tremor is easy... you don’t have it, you have an FX4.
Pop your radio out and see how many connectors are there. If you only have one... it’s a standard system. If there’s two... you have an Audiophile system.

Well I decided to keep it polite. I apologize for the brain fart, I should have noticed the sticker that called the part 4x4cm duh! Thank you for the straight answer. I did notice there's only 1 plug in radio. I guess I assumed because the truck has a special package it would have a little better stereo.
