WHY DO I KEEP BUYING DODGES?!?!?
I was at the U-Pull yesterday with a friend and was skimming thru the Ford Explorers and spied what looked like a brand new alternator in a 2000 Ford Explorer 4.0 OHV sport(2-door). I snatched it up for $27.50, after recalling that the Tech Library (http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/alternator.htm) said my 1999 3.0 ranger would have a 95-amp and that the 4.0 OHV one is the same, and walking over to a 3.0 ranger with a 3.0 and making sure the mounts lined up. I brought ti to O'Reilleys to have them test is for free, but they only do a "PASS/FAIL" test so I have no clue what amperage it is. It passed, and I feel it was totally worth the $27.50 with core charge and tax to keep as a spare, but mostly had an eye towards it being an upgraded 130 amp since apparently 96-98 4.0 Explorer's had a 130 amp alternator standard, so I figured a 2000 4.0 would as well.

It looks like this:

Top view of connectors:

Silver sticker says "A0110L" and the other one says "Original Equipment Quality Certified"

The Plastic says "Motorcraft" with "VP4L2U-10316-AA" under it and "GROUND HERE TO TEST" under that, and by the 3-pin plug, it says "07H06C A". The casting says "Motorcraft" with a "10" casted by the connector.

Another view:

So essentially, I'm sure i got a got deal on a barely used alternator that apparently passed testing, but I'd like to know if it's a 130 amp like I hope, or just another 95 like the one in my Ranger -and hopefully confirm that the Tech Library and I got it right in assuming this will work in my truck. Thanks.

After doing searches for "Motorcraft VP4L2U-10316-AA" I keep coming up with both 95 amp and 130 amp alternators, and apparently that is the number for the voltage regulator, so I'm still nto sure what output this thing is.

I popped on RockAuto Parts, and for 2000 Explorer V6 OHV'sd they list 95 amp and 130 amps available, but all the "Motorcraft" ones listed - remans - were 130, so I'm thinking a cheapy replacement is 95, but 130 was standard... thats about all I've found.

I didn't ask for your life story, just answer the question!

The one on the left is the "big case" 130 amp.
The one on the right is the "small case" 95 amp.

Looks like you got the "small case" 95 amp. Sorry.
