Welcome to TRS
2000 Ranger PATS wiring below
Should be the same as Mountaineer
The wand is called the Transceiver
The thing above glove box is the PATS Module
Powertrain control module(PCM) is the computer
Instrument cluster wire is for THEFT light
Computer "data lines" hook up are not needed
Basically you need Key on power and full time power to the PATS module
4 wires from Module to the Wand
2 wires from Module to the Computer
1 wire to the dash, its optional but nice to have because theft light will flash a code number if there is a problem
EDIT: problem here between 2000 and 2003 PATS systems Theft light wiring
In 2000 the PATS module sends 12v to the theft light which is grounded in the dash
In 2003 Ranger the theft light has 12volt all the time and Computer GROUNDS it to light it up
You could use an added relay that Grounds the wire to dash theft bulb, when PATS Module sends out the 12v, the relay would close and ground the wire
Or you could pull the dash and rewire Theft bulb to be grounded all the time
You can put wand under dash with its PATS KEY taped to it, and use your 2003 key for ignition and doors
But that does defeat the purpose of the PATS anti-theft system
