Don't know if this has been posted before...
There is a recall on 2007-2011 Rangers for the passenger side airbag.
NHTSA recall # 19V-001, Recall Notice # 19S01.
Got a notice about 2 months ago, ann my dealer had to order the bag (on back order for 2 months) It cam in and I'll be getting it done in a few weeks (had shoulder surgury yesterday and can't drive for a bit)
Basically posting this for you who may be the 2, 3, 4 owners and notice may not catch up with you.
It's a freebie covered by Ford, an once part comes in, takes about an hour or less to fix.

It's really sad that ford is still catching up with mailing out the recall notices and getting parts... this has been ongoing for 5 or 6 years now. Absolutely insane.

It took 2 years of "we don't have your part" letters before the claymore airbag in my wife's Edge was replaced.

Some of the Rangers were bad enough Ford said park them and paid to haul them in.

Like I posted, being new didn't know if it had been posted, and alot of newer members here who may have an affected truck.
Many times notices do not catch up to 2nd 3rd 4th owners.

Finally got mine done last week. It took since February for them to get it in. Takata really screwed to pooch on this one. I'd be surprised if we didn't get a recall on the driver's side bag some time in the future.

Yep. Wife's 2012 Mustang got recall for the drivers airbag. Jumped through the hoops, waited, finally dealer had the part. Got it done. Then, one month later, ANOTHER notice. Recall for passenger side. Same drawn out dumbass process. Instead of doing both at the same appointment. Great customer, ummm, service...

Ford can't install the new parts until Takata builds them. Car companies are required by law to announce recalls within days of identifying the defect, whether they have parts or not, and Ford has always complied with the rules. I was a service manager for 35 years and it caused a lot of headaches because some people would show up the day they heard about the problem wanting it fixed immediately. When the manager of the Takata plant in Mexico sent an internal memo titled"defects and defects and defects", Takata transferred him and installed a new manager. The first person killed by a Takata airbag was in a Honda in 2001 and it happened enough times by 2004 that Honda had identified a problem. Upstanding Japanese company that they are,Honda announced the recall in the fall of 2014 when NHTSA held their feet to the fire.

Considering takata no longer exists (wonder why) the parts are being made by other manufacturers which is a major reason for the parts delay. Last I checked it was 60 million recalls in the US alone. That's a butt load of parts to replace...

I got mine fixed last year, wait time between getting the notice and my dealer getting the part was roughly 6 months.

While the issue with Takata airbags has been known for over a decade 19S01 is the first safety recall of 2019, and so it was probably issued in January. It is possibly an extension of the original recall that now includes vehicles not covered in the original version.

Just sayin.

From here on down it's uphill all the way!
My '05 Edge was fixed before I bought it this Spring. I took it in to have the leaky hydraulic clutch fixed and the Ford dealer checked and saw it had been done by the previous owner. It seems like I a read in one of the car magazines several years ago that the reason we even have airbags is to help those who do not wear their seatbelts to survive an accident. I am retired Xray and have seen a lot of accident victims who have facial injuries and hand injuries from air bag deployments. Many of them jumped out of the vehicle as soon as they came to a stop as the air bag powder looked like smoke and they thought the vehicle was on fire.

I don't like airbags, they're a crutch for questionable cars to pass the crash standards. Does anyone really believe a "Smart" car would protect the occupants in a crash without the 27 airbags it has? And once the bags deploy and deflate the subsequent impacts would kill any survivors. I showed countless customers how to properly adjust their seat belts and headrests over the years, if the shoulder belt or headrest is out of place they're a hazard. Three people were killed here yesterday when their car went off the highway and rolled over because they were not belted and were ejected from the car. People who say they want to be "thrown free" of an accident should realize they're going to land on the guard rail or pavement at whatever speed they're travelling, they're not going to land on their bed.
