Does it really work? Not that I won't do it if it doesn't. I did some research and apparently it works for almost everybody who has tried it on their 4 bangers.

work for what? yeah you'll lose a few lbs and yeah it'll smooth the air path but doing that alone won't make you feel anything much (most likely nothing) on the trusty butt dyno lol. It's not gonna add 10hp or anything but it's free and easy and MAY add a hp or 2. I pulled the baffle out of mine and you could hear hear it pulling air just a little more but that's about it for me. Definitely can't hurt anything though so go for it:icon_thumby:

I was just asking other people what they have experienced. I still am going to do it, just like you said, it won't hurt the truck.

What would be the best method to replace the air muffler? I can spend a few dollars to do this mod. I really don't want to just pull out the baffle and run an empty "muffler".

I think there's a writeup in the tech section. I don't remember exactly the way your trucks would be set up but on mine the baffle was just inside of the tube so I took a pair of pliers and pulled it out leaving the nice smooth tube for the intake. They make universal intake pieces I saw some pieces and parts at advanced auto the other day so you could just go get a piece of tubing to replace that section if you wanted.

On mine I did it, and it just sounds louder on lower power band. I imediately noticed a loss of power under 2-2300 rpm, but it seems to be doing more power in between 4500- 6250 rpm( yes I drive it a lot more in this rpm range than under 2k) lol

You're truck would have the same factory setup as mine. What did you do to replace the air muffler or did you remove the inner baffle. If you removed the inner baffle, how did you go about doing it?

Just took the big plastic thing out, then used a flat screwdriver and hammer to tap the baffle out, was pretty easy. This is what it looks like and beside one that isnt removed.

I don't have one of those ones, but I did take mine out of the air cleaner box years ago.

All it did was give the engine a growl under load

I see. I'll have to try it sometime. Thanks man! From the picture it looks like it is smooth inside the muffler. Is it just straight inside the casing? That would be a great bonus because I was concerned that it would not be.

I don't understand what you mean by straight inside the casing, but it isnt hard at all to remove you remove the two clamps on it, get it out and remove it, it isnt glued or anything if that was your question, takes about 5 minutes.
