I'd go more if I had a place close by to go.
This is my problem as well, all the stomping grounds that were close by me have either been bulldozed for massive housing projects, or turned into so-called "conservation areas" where very few opportunities for recreation remain. There just ain't shit around me anymore within about 50 miles that's worth going to.
Although gas prices don't help either, I'd still be going out more often if there were more places to go. :(

Wheeling hasn't really slowed my wheeling any. But then again, I got my lisence in August, so the gas was alreday high...

But I still wheel about as much as if gas were $2-3 a gallon... About once every other week or so. But, I think having 2-3 legal areas to go within 50 miles, and 5-6 within 50-75 miles, makes a HUGE differance in that.

So how many people here actually still go offroading now that gas is about to hit 4 bucks a gallon. I have pretty much stopped everything with my truck in the last month or 2. Its just to damn expensive to just go playing around right now. Im in the process of buying a gsx-r 600 sportbike in the next week so il be getting 60mpg roughly. Gonna be awesome as hell to only need to fill up like once every 2 weeks to a month. Plus only 20 bucks to fill the tank and thats with premium.
Not going to stop me. I live about 13km from work and my wife could walk to work if she wanted to. In the grand scheme of things, we don't spend a whole lot of our income on gasoline.

Hasn't stopped me yet. Like someone else said, if it weren't for wheeling, I'd spend my money on something else. With a 12 gallon fuel cell, I can wheel about 3 weekends without having to think about gas. Add the cost of fuel for the tow rig, it costs about $40 in fuel to go wheeling every weekend, but it's well worth it. If you compare it to alot of other things you could be doing, it's about the same cost. Hell, it takes $40 just to go see a movie nowadays.

If it wasnt an hour and a half for me to go out I would be. Anything else closer then that and its just like paying to play in your backyard, just isnt worth it to pay.

I think it's all a government conspiracy! They don't want us wheeling, so they close down the land. They don't want us riding dirtbikes, so the restrict when and where we can ride. They don't want us shooting, so they ban guns. We find a way around the rules, so they change the rules, gas is too expensive, lead bullets are being outlawed. Next thing you know they'll repeal the 21st amendment and reinstate the 18th (that's when they took away the BOOZE!)

What?! time to get off my soapbox! OK, give me my pill and the nice white jacket with the sleeves that tie in back!
Cheers all!
The rich get richer and the rest of us pay them to do it!

The scarey thing is my ranting may not be too far off.

Going on a run next weekend, a clean-up of a BLM area. Strange they don't mind us working for free!:icon_cheers:
