ABS Codes

My ABS light has been intermittently coming on and off recently on my 1999 Ranger with four wheel ABS. Cycling the key will make the light go out, but I have a scan tool that can pull ABS and transmission codes so I hooked it up when the light came on again and it gave me:

B1233
B1234

The reader explained the codes as the front left and right ABS sensors not responding. I was curious first off if these are standard coded (never pulled ABS codes before), and whether it's possible both sensors would fail near simultaneously on a 15 yr old truck, or the problem may lie somewhere else.

The scan tool I have is an Innova 3130c Scantool w/ ABS.

Tried searching on here for the codes but came up dry.

Do a google search and see what you can find. And as a matter of fact, I have seen both front ABS sensors go bad at the same time. Of course it was on a POS dodge caravan that is used a lot for the company I work for.

That post mentions "C" codes. I was puzzled that I got "B" codes, so part of my question was whether there is a standard of codes like the "P" codes. I did get the "Wheel Speed Right (as well as left) Front Input Signal Missing" codes, but mine were B 1233 and B1234, not Cxxxx. I suppose that at least confirms they are standard Ford codes, just surprised the same code and description would have different letters. I suppose I'll have to crawl under and check the sensors. If they're like in that post, they should be easy enough to replace, just gotta see how much they are lol.

I'm wondering also if there's a way to clean them, or if I should just replace the dumb things. I know the ABS sensors on our Passat used to get dirty and cleaning would fix them.

While you're under there, check the wiring leading to the sensors. Make sure there isn't any wires that are chaffed through.

Depending on how cheap they are, I would replace them both and be done with it.

Depending on the year abs codes can be b or c codes. B is for body, c is for chassis. Early obd2 years didn't have a chassis coding. I would start with sensors. If they are expensive buy the one with the longer wire so you can install it on both sides to test the rest of the circuit.
