Hey everyone,

I found on craigslist (that my thang) a torque converter and A4LD tranny from a 91 4x4 Explorer 4.0.

I have a 1987 Ranger STX 2.9 4x4 with an A4LD.

Would this 4.0 A4LD from the explorer work with my truck? The guy mentioned the bell housing might need to be changed - is that a big deal?

He wants $300 for both the transmission and TC - delivered to me.

Sounds like a deal - only if it works in my truck though. He got stuck with this one because his 95 explorer has electronic OD and he can't use it.

I think the 4.0 trans is a little more electronic than the 2.9. May still work if you have the computer to go along with it.
