If you find yourself feeling generous, break down that roll bar and mail it my way...

It's a pretty rare option, if you can post some pics with it installed for reference.

It found a new home in my Shortbed for the time being haha. Ill snag a few pictures for you though. Trying to find the matching OE front brush guard & rear tube bumper to put back on the truck has been damn near impossible.

Its neat you still had the window sticker. Good to know my rally bar package would have been 339 from the dealer straight out, because finding it piece by piece 26 years later basically saved me $90 lol. You have an interior shot of the bezel switches? Wonder if I did mine right.

'89-'91 used this style switch. For '92-'94 they put the rocker switch(s) in the panel below the headlight switch. That style switch set is pretty common to find in 1st gen explorers. I have one I removed from a '92 STX floating around somewhere in the garage. Fun fact 1992 STX was the first year Ford installed factory fog lights in the valance for 4wd RBVs.

The factory stereo system was lacking so in went a quick & cheap audio upgrade with a new head unit & speakers. I love listening to Spotify so having a bluetooth capable head unit was a must for me.

Thanks for that! This is how I did mine.

I don't have that little plastic surround around the switch though. Hard to find on its own.

Nice job. The frame (before you fixed it) looks like every other Ohio truck over 15 years old lol. Mine is probably worse than that too. Damn rust belt.

Installed new shifter bushings as it was getting real sloppy.

While I was in there I modded an extra shifter stub I had by grinding an extra flat & groove in it...

So I could add my first FX4 Level II part to the STX! Shifter & boot came from a rolled over '05 Level II that was being parted out on FB market. I grabbed a few other trinkets from that truck.

Kinda regret not snagging the black/red seats from the '05 but oh well, I only had so much cash on me at the time.

Nice work man. I would loved to have snagged the rims off that FX4 to put on my 09. Those rims are hard to find by me.

I had a 92 Explorer as my first truck, the interior shots brings back memories.

You work pretty quick!

Really the frame doesn't look too bad though.

I would also love to sneak up on a set of Alcoas...

Damn that's a lot of work! Love it and all the pics. Seeing new parts and especially new hardware being used on an old truck just makes my day. Good job man

Thanks! I love Alcoas. My Shortbed has a set on it and they really set the truck off. I buy ever set I can find lol.

Its pretty swiss cheesed but its holding... It will need a frame in about 3-4 more winters sadly. Everything so far posted happened in the fall & winter of 2017-2018 as to why its going quick lol.

Thank you, lot of time but I do it outta love lol. This is only the beginning of new parts lol.

Nice work! There is a level II that I drive by all the time parked at a gas station by me. I've been eyeing those wheels. Especially since it just sits and the front right tire sits at various levels of properly inflated to darn near flat. If I had the cash and the space, I would stop in and ask if it is for sale but I don't. It's sad to see it just sitting there.

After a few months of daily driving I noticed one day it was leaning more then the typical ranger lean and got it up on the lift to investigate....

Welp thats a problem lol. Luckly I still have the front frame cut from the old '92 and the side I needed was still structurally sound. So more rivet cutting later I had both buckets removed.

20180603_162401.jpg

Sand blasted/primed & painted the replacement bucket with some Rustoleum paint and got it installed.

The truck had needed at least 2 u-joints since I've owned it in the front axle. I'm lazy so instead of trying to tear the rusty mess apart to put new joints in I swapped my spare D35 that was laying around from my '92 2.3 4x4. This new axle had oem Warn manual hubs & 4.10 gears where as the STX was originally equipped with 3.73s & auto hubs. I hate auto hubs as I like having the ability to use 2low (4low with the front axle unlocked) in certain situations. I had just recently done new wheel/inner spindle bearings & seals on that axle which may have had 3k miles on them before the truck got totaled. The passenger axle pivot bracket was swapped out as well due to rust concerns. Some ebay coil spacers I had originally bought for my Shortbed also found there way in to get the truck to sit reasonably level. I stole the shocks from the Shortbed which are '87-'89 STX High Rider spec units and fit perfectly with the leveling kit.
